Our Process

Our Metal Roofing Process & Precision

Metal roofing installation isn't forgiving — every measurement, fastener, and flashing detail has to be right the first time. Our crew follows a methodical process refined across hundreds of projects in Alpharetta, Milton, Roswell, and surrounding communities. Here's how we do it.

1

Complete Tear-Off to the Deck

We remove all existing roofing materials — shingles, felt, flashing — down to the bare deck. This lets us inspect every square foot of plywood for rot, soft spots, and water damage before a single panel goes up. No shortcuts, no layovers.

2

High-Temp Synthetic Underlayment

Metal conducts heat, and standard felt underlayment can degrade fast under a metal panel in Georgia sun. We install high-temperature synthetic underlayment rated for 250°F+ to provide a critical moisture barrier that holds up for the life of the roof.

3

Precision Flashing at Every Detail

Chimneys, valleys, dormers, pipe boots — every roof penetration gets custom-fabricated flashing. This is where most North Georgia metal roof leaks originate, and it's where our experience shows. We bend and fit flashing on-site to match your roof's exact geometry.

4

Final Inspection & Quality Check

Before we call any job complete, our lead installer checks every fastener for proper tension, every seam for alignment, and every transition for weather-tightness. We walk the roof, then walk you through it on the ground. You see exactly what we built and how it's protected.

Metal Roofing Styles We Install

Every home is different. We install multiple metal roofing systems so you get the right match for your home's architecture, your budget, and your taste. Here's what we offer across Alpharetta, Milton, and North Atlanta.

Standing Seam Metal Roof

Clean vertical lines with concealed fasteners. The gold standard for residential metal roofing — no exposed screws means zero fastener-related leaks. Available in 30+ colors with Kynar 500 finish.

Metal Roof Shingles

Stamped metal panels that replicate the look of slate, cedar shake, or dimensional shingles. Perfect for HOA neighborhoods in Johns Creek and Roswell where traditional aesthetics are required.

Aluminum Roofing Panels

Lightweight, corrosion-proof, and ideal for coastal or high-humidity environments. Aluminum roofing won't rust even after decades of Georgia rain and humidity. A strong choice for long-term low maintenance.

Why North Atlanta Homeowners Are Choosing Metal

Metal roofing isn't a trend — it's the practical choice for homeowners who are done replacing shingles every 20 years. Here's what our clients in Alpharetta, Milton, and Roswell tell us matters most.

Storm & Wind Resistance

North Georgia gets severe thunderstorms, high winds, and occasional hail from spring through fall. Standing seam metal roofs are rated for winds up to 140 mph — well above what most asphalt shingle systems can handle. After every major storm, our phone rings with shingle repair calls. Our metal roofing clients? They just watch the rain roll off. For homes along the Chattahoochee corridor near Roswell and Marietta, that wind rating is real peace of mind.

Lifetime Value Over Short-Term Cost

We understand the sticker shock. Metal roofing installation costs more upfront than asphalt. But when you factor in the math — one roof lasting 50+ years versus two or three asphalt replacements over the same period — the total cost of ownership often favors metal. Add energy savings from reflective coatings and the boost to your home's resale value, and the investment starts to look like common sense. We've helped homeowners in Cumming and Canton make this comparison side by side.

Low Maintenance, High Performance

Asphalt shingles collect moss, lose granules, and curl at the edges as they age in Georgia humidity. Metal doesn't. A residential metal roofing system requires almost no maintenance — no annual inspections, no granule loss, no moss treatments. An occasional visual check and gutter cleaning are all it takes. That means fewer contractor visits and more years of just living under a roof that works.

Eco-Friendly & Recyclable

Most metal roofing panels contain 25 to 95 percent recycled content, and they're 100 percent recyclable at end of life. Asphalt shingles? They end up in landfills — roughly 11 million tons per year nationwide. If sustainability matters to you, metal is the clear choice. Combined with the energy savings from reduced cooling loads, a metal roof is one of the most environmentally responsible upgrades you can make to your North Atlanta home.

"It's tough to find people you feel like you can trust not to try and get over on you. I spoke with Wes about work I needed to get done and was surprised at his level of honesty and professionalism. Putting that with the word of mouth on the quality of his work... and I wouldn't/won't hesitate to work with him on my next project."

"We had a major project to be undertaken. Need construction to the rescue!! We had water damage to some of the framing on the home exterior and major deck demo and rebuild. They handled it all. I had some unique requests that I wanted installed on my deck. The DekDrain rain system along with the full composite Dekorators Summit boards and railing with a cocktail rail was our desire. We also had to have a concrete patio area below. Wes and his team made it all happen. The subframe was built with better materials that any other contractor had even offered and I was impressed with that alone. I have no doubt that hurricane force winds would have no effect on this fortress of a deck. Even the city inpectors were wowed by the build quality. The craftsmanship and finishing of the final product is top tier. They will take the time to make sure it's your dream come true."

FAQ

Metal Roofing Questions

Common questions from Alpharetta, Milton, and North Atlanta homeowners considering metal roofing

Is metal roofing louder than shingles during Georgia rainstorms?

Not when installed correctly. Modern metal roofing installation over solid plywood decking with a quality synthetic underlayment creates a sound barrier comparable to asphalt shingles. We install every metal roof in Alpharetta and Milton with high-temp underlayment and proper attic insulation, which together dampen rain noise to levels most homeowners say they don't even notice. The days of the loud tin barn roof are long gone.

How long does a metal roof last compared to asphalt?

A properly installed metal roof typically lasts 40 to 70 years, depending on the material and coating. By comparison, standard asphalt shingles in the Southeast usually need replacement every 20 to 25 years due to heat, humidity, and storm damage. We've worked on homes in Roswell and Johns Creek where the original metal roof was still performing after three decades with minimal maintenance. Over a home's lifetime, that longevity often means you avoid two or three re-roofing cycles.

What is the cost difference between metal and asphalt shingles?

The initial investment for residential metal roofing is typically 2 to 3 times higher than a comparable asphalt shingle roof. However, the long-term value favors metal significantly. With a lifespan of 50+ years, lower energy bills from solar reflectance, and virtually zero maintenance, many North Atlanta homeowners recoup the difference within 10 to 15 years. We provide transparent, itemized estimates so you can see exactly where your investment goes.

Will a metal roof interfere with cell phone reception?

Metal roofing rarely affects indoor cell phone signal if you already have decent exterior coverage. Your signal passes through windows and wall openings the same as with any other roof. The impact is far less than heavy structural steel or concrete construction. In the eight years we've been installing metal roofs across North Atlanta, we haven't had a single homeowner report a reception issue after installation.

Do metal roofs attract lightning?

No, metal roofing does not increase the risk of a lightning strike. Lightning seeks the highest point in an area, not a specific material. In the unlikely event a metal roof is struck, it's actually safer than wood or asphalt because metal is non-combustible and disperses the energy across the surface. This makes metal one of the safest roofing materials in Georgia's active storm season.

Can you install a metal roof over existing shingles?

While overlay installation is technically possible in some situations, we strongly recommend a full tear-off down to the deck. This allows us to inspect the decking for rot or damage, install proper underlayment, and ensure your new metal roof carries a full manufacturer warranty. Local building codes in Milton, Alpharetta, and Fulton County may restrict layering, so a tear-off also keeps you code-compliant with no surprises.

Are metal roofs energy efficient in the summer?

Absolutely. Metal roofing reflects a significant portion of solar radiant heat rather than absorbing it like asphalt. This can reduce summer cooling costs by 10 to 25 percent, which matters during those long Alpharetta summers when AC runs nonstop. We also install panels with cool-roof pigment coatings that further enhance reflectance, qualifying some homeowners for energy efficiency rebates.

Does hail damage metal roofing?

Metal roofs are extremely resistant to hail penetration, far more so than asphalt shingles. While large hailstones can leave cosmetic dents on some softer metals, the structural integrity and waterproofing remain fully intact. We install hail-rated panels that carry Class 4 impact ratings, the highest available. For North Georgia homeowners tired of filing shingle claims after every spring storm, metal is often the final roof they'll ever need.
