Premium Siding Solutions for Cumming Homeowners

Your home's siding is its first line of defense against Forsyth County's hot summers, driving rain, and occasional ice storms. At Need Construction, we install siding systems engineered to protect your investment and transform your curb appeal.

James Hardie fiber cement siding is our most popular recommendation for Cumming homeowners, and for good reason. Unlike vinyl, it won't warp when the temperature climbs past 95 degrees on a July afternoon along GA-400. Unlike wood, it won't rot when Georgia's humidity sits above 80% for weeks on end. Hardie plank siding is built for exactly this climate — and it shows in how homes along Pilgrim Mill Road, in the Vickery community, and throughout the Lake Lanier corridor hold up year after year.

For homeowners looking for a distinctive look, our board and batten siding installations have become a signature in Cumming neighborhoods. The vertical profile and deep shadow lines create a modern farmhouse aesthetic that stands apart from the sea of horizontal lap siding. We install it in fiber cement and engineered wood, and often pair it as an accent feature with traditional lap siding for a layered, architectural look.

Every siding project starts with a thorough exterior inspection. We check the sheathing for moisture damage, verify your house wrap is intact, and assess insulation layers before a single panel goes up. This complete exterior envelope approach is what separates a siding job that lasts 30 years from one that starts failing in 10. We also handle all trim, fascia, and soffit work to deliver a finished look — not loose ends.

What's Included in Every Siding Project

  • Expert installation of James Hardie fiber cement siding for maximum durability against Georgia humidity
  • Modern board and batten siding designs to enhance curb appeal in North Georgia neighborhoods

The Benefits of Hardie Board Siding in Cumming

James Hardie fiber cement siding is engineered specifically for the Southeast climate zone. For Cumming homeowners who want siding that looks great and performs for decades, hardie board siding is the gold standard.

One of the biggest advantages of hardie plank siding is what it doesn't do. It doesn't burn — fiber cement carries a Class A fire rating, the highest available. It doesn't attract termites or carpenter ants, a real concern for properties bordered by wooded lots in south Forsyth County. And it doesn't expand and contract the way vinyl does, which means your seams stay tight and your paint stays put through the temperature swings we get from January through August.

Charcoal siding has become the standout color choice across Cumming and Forsyth County over the last few years. The deep, rich tone pairs naturally with the stone and brick accents common in communities like Windermere, Polo Fields, and along Post Road. James Hardie's ColorPlus Technology bakes the finish into the fiber cement at the factory — it resists fading, chipping, and cracking far longer than field-applied paint. Homeowners consistently get 15-20 years before a repaint is even a consideration.

Every James Hardie product we install comes with manufacturer-backed warranties. The siding itself carries a 30-year non-prorated product warranty, and the ColorPlus finish adds a 15-year color warranty. As a trained Hardie installer, Need Construction ensures your installation meets the manufacturer's specifications exactly — which is required for full warranty coverage. We also handle all trim and fascia work to give your home a seamless, finished look from every angle.

Fire & Pest Resistant

Class A fire rating and zero appeal to termites or carpenter ants. Ideal for Cumming properties near wooded areas throughout Forsyth County.

Charcoal & Trending Colors

ColorPlus Technology bakes the finish at the factory for 15+ years of fade resistance. Charcoal, navy, and warm wood tones that hold up against Georgia's intense UV.

Manufacturer-Backed Warranties

30-year non-prorated product warranty plus 15-year ColorPlus color warranty. Full coverage requires certified installation — which is exactly what we provide.

Precision Trim & Fascia

We don't just hang siding — we finish the entire exterior with matched trim, fascia, and soffit work for a seamless whole-home transformation.

"It's tough to find people you feel like you can trust not to try and get over on you. I spoke with Wes about work I needed to get done and was surprised at his level of honesty and professionalism. Putting that with the word of mouth on the quality of his work... and I wouldn't/won't hesitate to work with him on my next project."

"We had a major project to be undertaken. Need construction to the rescue!! We had water damage to some of the framing on the home exterior and major deck demo and rebuild. They handled it all. I had some unique requests that I wanted installed on my deck. The DekDrain rain system along with the full composite Dekorators Summit boards and railing with a cocktail rail was our desire. We also had to have a concrete patio area below. Wes and his team made it all happen. The subframe was built with better materials that any other contractor had even offered and I was impressed with that alone. I have no doubt that hurricane force winds would have no effect on this fortress of a deck. Even the city inpectors were wowed by the build quality. The craftsmanship and finishing of the final product is top tier. They will take the time to make sure it's your dream come true."

Cumming Siding Installation Questions

Answers from our siding specialists about materials, costs, and timelines for Cumming and Forsyth County homeowners.

What is aluminum siding and is it still a good option?

Aluminum siding is a lightweight metal cladding that's been protecting homes since the mid-20th century — and yes, it's still a solid choice for the right application. It won't rot, warp, or attract termites, and it handles Cumming's humidity without the moisture damage you see with wood. Modern aluminum siding comes in a wider range of colors and profiles than the old stuff, and it's one of the most eco-friendly options since it's 100% recyclable at end of life. For homeowners who want durable, low-maintenance protection without the premium price of fiber cement, aluminum is worth a serious look.

How much does siding installation cost in Cumming, GA?

In the Cumming and Forsyth County market, most whole-home siding projects run between $8,000 and $25,000 depending on the material you choose and the size of your home. Vinyl is the most affordable at roughly $4-8 per square foot installed, aluminum siding falls in the $6-12 range, and premium fiber cement like James Hardie runs $10-16 per square foot. We provide free on-site measurements and detailed estimates with line-item pricing so you know exactly what you're paying for before any work begins.

Is fiber cement siding better than vinyl for Georgia weather?

For Georgia's climate, fiber cement outperforms vinyl in several critical ways. It won't warp or buckle under the extreme heat we get during Cumming summers — temperatures that routinely cause vinyl to distort on south-facing walls. Fiber cement is also far more resistant to humidity-driven issues and holds paint significantly longer, typically 15-20 years between repaints versus 5-10 for vinyl. The initial cost is higher, but homeowners in neighborhoods like Castleberry Hills and along the GA-400 corridor consistently tell us the longevity and curb appeal make it the better long-term investment.

How long does a typical siding replacement take?

Most siding replacements on Cumming homes take 1-2 weeks from start to finish. The timeline depends on your home's square footage, the complexity of the exterior (dormers, multiple stories, trim details), and weather. We strip the old siding, inspect and repair the sheathing, install house wrap and flashing, then hang the new siding. Our crews work full days and keep a tight schedule — we know your life doesn't stop during a renovation.

Do you offer board and batten style siding?

Absolutely — board and batten siding is one of our most requested styles right now in Cumming and across Forsyth County. The vertical orientation and shadow lines give homes a modern farmhouse aesthetic that stands out from the typical horizontal lap siding in most neighborhoods. We install board and batten in fiber cement, engineered wood, and vinyl depending on your budget and maintenance preferences. It pairs especially well as an accent on gable ends and entryways combined with traditional lap siding on the main walls.

What are the most popular siding colors in Cumming?

Charcoal siding and deep navy blues have been the top picks among Cumming homeowners over the past two years — they photograph well, hide dirt, and give a modern edge to traditional Southern architecture. Natural wood tones like aged cedar and warm gray are also popular for homeowners going for the modern farmhouse look. Before you commit to a color, we'll check your HOA requirements if applicable and provide physical color samples against your home's stone, brick, or trim so you can see the actual result in your lighting.

How do I know if my siding needs replacement?

The three biggest warning signs are warping or buckling panels, visible rot or soft spots when you press on the siding, and energy bills that keep creeping up despite no changes in your HVAC. Also look for paint peeling in large sheets rather than just fading, fungus or mold growing underneath the panels, and gaps forming at seams or around windows. If your siding is over 20 years old and showing multiple symptoms, replacement typically makes more financial sense than patching — we'll give you an honest assessment either way.

Are there financing options for new siding?

Yes, we offer financing options to help Cumming homeowners manage the investment. We work with lending partners who provide plans with competitive rates and terms up to 84 months, with approvals often completed in minutes. Many homeowners also bundle siding with other exterior work like roofing or trim replacement to maximize the value of a single project mobilization.
